With the standard solution Chronos for database archiving CSP supports the retirement of seven legacy systems altogether in the framework of insolvency handling.

When handling an insolvent company the insolvency administrator’s special focus is especially on the comprehensive obligations to producing supporting documents toward the insolvency court, revenue service and pension fund. Thanks to an efficient database archiving project the information from the company administration of the insolvent drug store chain Schlecker can still be permanently provided in the future for the above entities.

CSP IT-Business GmbH supports the insolvency administrators Schneider, Geiwitz & Partner and Anton Schlecker e.K.i.l. with this task since the autumn of 2013. The standard software Chronos for database archiving allows extracting the data from the legacy systems of the insolvent company and then to shut off the systems. Seven systems must altogether be prepared in the course of the project for their deactivation. In addition to Navision systems, applications based on an AS/400 system, one Intranet and one Data Warehouse are involved here. The information can be permanently retrieved under a uniform user interface and compliance requirements such as the GDPdU (Principles of data access and auditing of digital documents) can be met exactly. Past business transactions of the drug store chain then become traceable without needing to question previous Schlecker employees.

CSP has become specialised in Application Retirement, that is, the retirement of legacy systems, for several years. The established approach is also used with the drug store chain. In June 2014 the previous Data Warehouse was already retired in which billions of goods movements from the drug stores were stored. The conversion took place in parallel to the running operation where over 30 employees are still working for Schlecker.

The objective of Anton Schlecker e.K.i.l. is to meticulously meet the legal mandatory documentation. Especially in the area of human resources management the final processing system is already heavily confronted with inquiries as to when new unemployment and earnings statements need to be issued. Furthermore, inquiries regarding social security and reports to the pension fund need to be handled. Apart from the legal aspect, the goal of reducing the running costs as soon as possible on the basis of archiving has a high priority. In addition, emails from over 1,000 employees are archived as well as numerous other existing documents and files with special importance for the work of the insolvency administrators.

Markus Bartsch, manager of the final processing team of Schlecker: “Other providers have ensured us that transferring the data from different systems into one uniform interface for future research is not possible. CSP with their know-how and standard software Chronos has done this now very professionally and implements the requirements even at a very good price-performance ratio.”

CSP makes the archived contents for all research actions available via the Chronos Archive Explorer. Even users without knowledge of the Schlecker system landscape can query data via this convenient interface with much detail and then download them as PDF or XLS files. Markus Bartsch emphasises this as special advantage of the project: “With such comprehensive insolvency proceedings as Schlecker this know-how is extremely valuable for all parties involved. In the course of the project not only long-term archiving was introduced but, at the same time, a functional reporting system that makes the job of the insolvency administrator much easier when retiring the company.”
